Why is craft time important?
At Hisaya International Preschool and Kindergarten in Nagoya, we know that kids love to get their hands on things. All the time! Craft Time is an excellent way to illustrate the weekly theme in a visible way that is very tactile and engaging for young learners.
During Craft Time, students practice cutting paper with scissors about three times a week. At first using scissors is difficult for many students, but with practice students gradually learn to hold the scissors correctly and cut straight lines.
At first, some do not have enough hand strength, but as they continue to practice using scissors, the muscles in their hands grow stronger and they are able to cut the paper better. By the end of the school year, students are very proud of how well they can cut and enjoy showing off the paper they have cut to their friends.
